THIOSPOT®
Thiospot® is a powerful product range which is a safe alternative to hydroquinone-releasing creams which have a cancer question mark over them. Cosmetics containing hydroquinone are banned in the EU, and categorised as a class 1 carcinogen, although it is still currently available in some other countries. Hydroquinone can still be prescribed by doctors and there is still illegal importation of hydroquinone containing cosmetics into the EU, which is a grave concern.
Maybe more worrying is the use of products which are still legal in the EU, which contain either arbutin or bearberry. Bearberry is natural source of arbutin and arbutin releases hydroquinone when absorbed into the skin. Yet these products are still legal!
Medically Proven
Thiospot® is a combination of three medically-proven ingredients which slow down excess melanin production. Newly produced skin cells take in less pigment as a result, so this newer, lighter skin can rise to the surface to replace older, darker skin without bleaching.
Thiospot® has an anti-inflammatory agent to reduce inflammatory triggering as well as organic-based sun filters which are non-irritating (non-inflammatory) to cell membranes, unlike standard sun filters. Lastly, Thiospot® gently increases the rate of skin-shedding, speeding up the rate that new, lighter skin cells reach the surface.
All the three active key ingredients in Thiospot® have a synergistic effect on melanin manufacture – i.e. they all individually reduce the rate at which melanin is made, but their effect is much greater when used together.
Expectations and Results
Results begin to appear usually between four and eight weeks with continuous twice a day use. The ingredients need to absorb into the skin & reach the melanocytes, so that pigment production in these cells slows down. Then, new skin cells which pick up the available, ‘normal’ level of pigment, have to migrate to the surface as the old, darker cells are shed.
Thiospot® is available as two different products; these can be used separately or used together twice a day, every day, in order to achieve optimum results. The choice of product is down to the intensity and pattern or size of coverage of the pigmented area.
