Burns and Scars Overview

Scars can come about as a result of burns surgery, injury, or cosmetic procedure. Scars form as part of the healing process and when the dermal layer of the skin is damaged. In response, the body forms new skin fibres to mend this damage, resulting in scar tissue, which has a different texture and quality than the surrounding tissue. Often, scar tissue incorporates less of two fibres known as elastin & collagen and hence has a different texture to the surrounding skin.

In order to return scar tissue to its original consistency and make-up, we must increase the production of the structural fibres; collagen and elastin in the area concerned. This is called accelerating skin trophism. Collagen and elastin molecules are far too large to pass into the skin, so in order to boost levels we must encourage the skin to manufacture more of these fibres. This is done by supplying the raw materials of collagen and elastin to the skin and stimulating cells known as fibroblasts to make more of these fibres.

TERPROLINE®

Skin Healing, Recovery and Scar Prevention

acne scarring skin damage

Terproline® is a group of products designed to prepare skin and promote recovery from numerous dermatological procedures. It was first used in burns units to help people recover from hypertrophic scars with remarkable results. The ingredients in Terproline® in stimulate fibroblast activity, while providing the raw materials for new collagen and elastin. Terproline® improves the elasticity and extensibility of the skin, modulating the process of tissue repair. It inhibits the formation of scar tissue, promoting faster, more uniform healing and recovery.

FILLAST®

Promotes Hyaluronic Acid Manufacture, For Hydration, Filling & Healing

hyaluronic acid serum

When using Terproline®, which encourages our skin to make more youthful, flexible Collagen (Type-III), we must always use it with Fillast®, which encourages our skin to manufacture hyaluronic acid. The reason for this is that when Collagen Type-III is present in a high hyaluronic acid environment, it is far less likely to transform and bind together into older, rigid Collagen Type-I.

ENERPEEL®

Exfoliation, Encouraging Repair and Rejuvenation

pyruvic acid chemical peel

To overcome scarring, we recommend Enerpeel® TCA - the most effective skin remodelling solution in the Enerpeel® range - which is available in two different versions 25% (this provides medium-depth remodelling) and 40% (this offers the deepest - and therefore most profound - remodelling). An Enerpeel® TCA will improve colour, freshness, texture, skin tone, and fine wrinkles. It will also help to remove superficial discoloration, such as age spots.

For best results, we also recommend that an Enerpeel® TCA skin remodelling treatment is preceded by an Enerpeel® JR. Based upon salicylic acid, lactic acid and resorcinol, Enerpeel® JR is used primarily as a preparation peel for medium to deep peeling as seen with both strengths of Enerpeel® TCA.
