Hypopigmentation and Vitiligo Management - Overview

Vitiligo is a pigmentation disorder in which melanocytes (the cells that make pigment) in the skin are destroyed. As a result, white patches appear on the skin in different parts of the body. Similar patches also appear on both the mucous membranes (tissues that line the inside of the mouth and nose), and the retina (inner layer of the eyeball). The hair that grows on areas affected by vitiligo sometimes turns white.

Narrowband UV is probably the most effective treatment for vitiligo available. The goal of this therapy is to repigment the white patches and involve. carefully timed exposure to sunlight or to ultraviolet A (UVA) light that comes from a special lamp.

LIPOACID®

Free Radical Scavengers To Relieve Oxidative Stress

Lipoacid Complete Range

Lipoacid® has also improved vitiligo management. In a clinical study published in the Journal of Cinical and Experimental Dermatology, it greatly improved the success rate of narrow band UV therapy; the standard clinical treatment.

In the study, Lipoacid® was used in conjunction with the narrow-band UV for six months. The results showed that successful re-pigmentation (greater than 75%) increased in 18% of patients with narrow band UVB on its own, to 47% with Lipoacid. Many others achieved significant improvement.
