CELEBRITY ENDORSED DERMO-COSMECEUTICAL PROVIDES BREAKTHROUGH RELIEF FROM
ROSACEA - THE RED MENACE!
ROSACEA is a conspicuous and embarrassing skin condition, which affects an estimated 45 million sufferers worldwide… Celebrity Rosacea sufferers include, Bill Clinton, Prince Harry of Wales, Renee Zellwegger, Kate Winslet, Clint Eastwood, Prince Charles and Synchrorose® aficionado Ricky Wilson of The Kaiser Chiefs.
For over 4 million UK inhabitants, Rosacea is a disturbing skin problem, characterised by an unsightly perpetual redness caused by a proliferation of dilated capillaries, congestion and inflammation. It often begins as flushing and redness on the central face and across the cheeks, nose or forehead, but in extreme instances, can affect the neck, chest, scalp, eyes and ears. As Rosacea progresses, permanent redness develops, along with other common symptoms, including inflamed red spots and white pustules particularly around the cheeks and nose; small broken blood vessels (thread and spider veins) near the surface of the skin and in some advanced cases, mainly seen in men, a deformed, bulbous nose. This distressing skin disorder is sometimes confused and in some cases co-exists with acne vulgaris and seborrheic dermatitis.
Fair, sensitive skin complexions typified by people of Irish, English, Scottish, Welsh and Scandinavian descent are genetically more susceptible to developing Rosacea. The major trigger in developing Rosacea is environmental exposure to UV and whilst the UK is not renowned for its sunny climate, we Brits inadequately protect our fair skin, wrongly believing sun protection is not necessary with our cloudy skies. However, 95% of the damaging UV rays still penetrate the cloud cover and hence, experts consider this to be the probable cause behind the UK sustaining the highest incidence rate in the world with one in ten women aged 30 to 55 suffering from this unfortunate skin complaint.
The long-term effects of Rosacea can make peoples lives a misery. Rosacea sufferers often report periods of depression stemming from cosmetic disfigurement, painful burning sensations, low self-esteem and a decreased quality of life. The UK and international support charity’s, Acne Support Group and www.rosacea.org recognise that Rosacea victims are in desperate need of a solution to this visibly embarrassing condition.
Rosacea - The triggers…
Skin type and skin sensitivity, defined by genetics and exposure to triggers over time can lead to flushing episodes and eventually rosacea. The number one causative trigger is UV exposure. The condition can become much worse when hormonal controls on blushing, flushing and skin reddening are compromised such as during the menopause.
Rosacea indiscriminately affects men and women and whilst all age groups can be affected by this visible red menace, extensive studies have demonstrated that women reaching menopausal age are notably prone to developing Rosacea. However, men also undergo hormonal changes around the same age. Hormonal fluctuations often increase the flushing response to UV and heat from sunlight, sunburn and changes of temperature in the winter where central heated rooms conflict with the colder outdoor weather and wind. Hence Rosacea sufferers may often experience increased outbreaks in the autumn and winter months, whereas others suffer worst during the high UV summer months.
Other well-documented ‘triggers’ include foods and activities which induce flushing in the skin such as stress, a stimulant-rich diet with alcohol, caffeine, spicy food, foods high in histamine content and strenuous exercise. Accordingly, the first symptoms of Rosacea are often visible as persisting redness and broken veins brought on by varying ‘triggers’ i.e. Any internal or external factor which increases blood flow to the facial area.
Certain medications, topical irritants and steroids can cause Rosacea to progress quickly and common cosmetic treatments including micro-dermabrasion, chemical peels, high doses of Roaccutane, benzyl peroxide and tretinoin are widely renowned to aggravate Rosacea in predisposed skin types. Studies of Rosacea and demodex mites have also revealed that some Rosacea sufferers have increased numbers of this microscopic human skin mite, especially those with steroid induced Rosacea, which may also act as an irritant in addition to the above triggers.
Medical research also indicates that the onset of Rosacea may be due to a neurological disorder resulting from hyper-sensitisation of sensory neurons following activation of the plasma kallikrein-kinin system by exposure to intestinal bacteria in the digestive tract.
Synchrorose® – A future less than Rosy!
After years of extensive development by Italian research dermatologists and pharmacists, detailed U.S. and European hospital trials by leading Rosacea specialists, the Synchrorose® product range has demonstrated dramatic efficacy in visibly reducing permanent and intermittent redness in as quickly as 10 to 14 days(with a 4 week consumer average).
Synchrorose®;
- Visibly reduces redness in 10 to 14 days
- Visibly reduces spider and thread veins encouraging revascularisation
- Protects and supports existing blood vessels to resist hyper dilation and damage leading to the development of thread veins
- Increases skin resistance to reddening and flushing
- Reduces sensitivity to the 'triggers' that provoke skin flushing
- Calms and soothes the epidermis
- Gently cleanses the skin surface
- Normalises and softens the facial skin tissue
- Deeply and intensely nourishes the skin cells
- Boosts skin hydration levels
- Provides U.V. environmental protection
Formulated with naturally-based ingredients, Synchrorose® utilises 'Synchrosome' technology to ensure delivery and absorption of the active ingredients as they penetrate the epidermis. An innovative and highly effective treatment, the four-product Synchrorose® system influences the key underlying inflammatory skin processes, which lead to reddening skin tissue and vessel damage. Synchrorose® is designed to successfully increase the skin’s resistance and decrease its hyper-sensitivity, thereby stabilising the skin’s response to the Rosacea triggers, resulting in a calmer, more even skin tone without the need for camouflage make-up.
Synchrorose® dramatically alleviates the discomfort of unsightly redness in 8 out of 10 Rosacea sufferers; reducing flushing, blushing, reddening skin and Rosacea. With continued use, Synchrorose® encourages revascularisation of the skin with a noticeable reduction in the appearance of spider/thread veins (dilated capillaries) becoming apparent over time. Additional skin-soothing and nourishing botanical ingredients nurture the skin, improving skin quality and tolerance while leaving the delicate skin surface calm, hydrated and U.V. protected.
Synchrorose® was evaluated by members of the UK Rosacea charity, a particularly stringent challenge with 98 evaluators suffering from extreme cases of rosacea. Following a twice daily application of the four-product regimen, 72% witnessed a significant improvement and 75% purchased the Synchrorose® product range at the end of the 8 week evaluation period. Continued improvement is observed with continued use.
The underlying cause…
Whilst the precise pathogenesis of Rosacea still remains unknown, it is clear that Rosacea results from a disorder where the blood vessels become damaged when repeatedly dilated by stimuli. The damage causes the vessels to dilate too easily and stay dilated for longer periods or to remain permanently dilated, resulting in flushing and redness. This prolonged reddening provokes tissue damage and fusing of the damaged capillaries, leading to the formation of irregular connective tissue and a disruption of the normal skin structure functioning. The generation of excessive free radicals results in further tissue damage as immune cells and inflammatory mediators leak from the skin’s micro-vascular bed causing swollen pustules, especially prevalent with victims of acne-Rosacea.
Rosacea Subtypes and Symptoms
There are four identified subtypes of Rosacea and patients may have more than one subtype present.
Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea: Permanent redness (erythema) with a tendency to flush and blush easily. It is also common to have small blood vessels visible near the surface of the skin (telangiectasia) and possibly burning or itching sensations.
Cont./
Papulopustular Rosacea: Some permanent redness with red bumps (papules) large swellings (macules) and watery pus filled spots (pustules) which typically last 1-4 days; this subtype can be easily confused with acne and is more commonly referred to as acne-Rosacea.
Phymatous Rosacea: This subtype is most commonly associated with rhinophyma, an enlargement of the nose. Symptoms include thickening skin, irregular surface nodularities and enlargement. Phymatous Rosacea can appear on the nose, chin, forehead, cheeks, and ears. Small blood vessels visible near the surface of the skin (telangiectasias) may be present.
Ocular Rosacea: Red, dry and irritated eyes and eyelids. Symptoms include red gritty eyes, foreign body sensations in the eye, itching and burning sensations in the eyes.
The Synchrorose® commitment
“Rosacea is a common skin condition which tends to run in families and as a result many people mistakenly believe that their ruddy complexion is simply a family characteristic which they must learn to live with. In advanced cases however, the disorder is debilitating, as sufferers are forced to make adjustments to their lifestyle, for example, by avoiding going out in sunny or cold weather, avoiding alcohol or strenuous exercise, all of which can cause flare-ups that victims need no longer to suffer from. Synchrorose® is formulated with a revolutionary combination of active ingredients that visibly help to reduce redness and provide relief at a rate that has previously not been available via the skincare market. As part of our commitment to Rosacea sufferers, we are offering a money back guarantee for Synchrorose® customers who have completed a pre-assessment carried out by one of our qualified SkinMed advisors.” Peter Roberts, Managing Director, SkinMed Ltd.
